Agreed.
So here is the formal request for a debian-mobile@lists.debian.org :
Name: debian-mobile@lists.debian.org
Rationale: Packaging efforts around mobile user interfaces are currently
scattered around in many different alioth projects, mailing lists, etc.
See http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2011/09/msg00126.html for a more
complete rationale.
Short description: Mobile interfaces in Debian
Long description: Discussions around packaging suitable mobile interfaces to
Debian. Mobile systems have a user-interface different than the traditional
'keyboard-mouse' pair, can be battery-powered, have a generally small form
factor and/or only allow few elements on a given screen.

Is there any chance this mailing list can be created?

Not without more seconders. And even then we would just reenable
debian-handheld@.

I guess I was already considered as a seconder, given I proposed this
name, but just in case: I hereby second Didier's request to create
-mobile.
> And even then we would just reenable debian-handheld@.
I pledge for -mobile, as names do matter and "mobile" is, nowadays, a
way clearer and straight to the point name than "handheld". Of course,
it'd be great if you can migrate old archives of -handheld to the new
list, but it'd even greater if you can retain the "-mobile" name.
Many thanks in advance for your support,
Cheers.

Well, in that case, seconded debian-mobile.
Note that part of the plan is to unify all related mailing lists into
debian-mobile and close the rest of mailing lists, either in debian or
alioth.

I second the creation of this list, it will help Debian expand towards
being more useful on mobile devices like handsets, tablets etc.
As to the name, I would recommend using debian-mobile rather than
debian-handheld if possible, for the reasons suggested by zack.

Dear listmasters,
it's now been a month since the last mail to this bug for the opening of
debian-mobile@l.d.o; can we have a status update?
As far as I can see from the bug log, it has 1 proposer (myself) and 6 seconds
(all project members).

- zumbi #27
- pabs #32
- sre #37
- gregoa #42

Thanks for considering; cheers,

I don't do list creation so often (and nobody else creates lists). But I
think that I will accept the list as it is, even if I don't like the name.
I think I will do the next list creation wave sometimes during the next two
weeks.
