Message #5 received at submit@bugs.debian.org (full text, mbox, reply):
Package: advi
Version: 1.9.0-1+b1
Severity: normal
/etc/advi/jpfonts.conf is not read, and Japanese fonts do not appear
(unless you have Microsoft fonts installed).
From strace, it seems to be searching for the following directories:
open("/home/dancer/.advi/jpfonts.conf", O_RDONLY|O_LARGEFILE) = -1
ENOENT (No such file or directory)
open("/usr/etc/advi/jpfonts.conf", O_RDONLY|O_LARGEFILE) = -1 ENOENT
(No such file or directory)
Workaround for now:
mkdir ~/.advi
cp /etc/advi/jpfonts.conf ~/.advi
Proper fix:
fix the search path for advi.

thanks for your bug report. In fact I do not know about using japanese
fonts - could you please send me a very simple example .tex file for
use with advi that I can use to test the usage of japanese fonts, and
that I may also include in the advi-examples package?
Cheers -Ralf.

thanks, I have added it to the advi-examples package. I'll upload
the fixed advi as soon as the new version of ocamlimages is available
on all autobuilders.
Out of curiosity, how can one display a dvi file generated from this
input without advi? I get "character out of range" errors when I try
to display the dvi with xdvi, or when I try to translate to ps
using dvips.
Cheers -Ralf.
