Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist

* Package name    : corsix-th
  Version         : 0.5-beta
* URL             : http://code.google.com/p/corsix-th/
* License         : MIT
  Programming Lang: Lua, C++
  Description : Open source clone of Theme Hospital

This project aims to reimplement the game engine of Theme Hospital, and be able
to load the original game data files. This means that you will need a
purchased copy of Theme Hospital, or a copy of the demo, in order to use
CorsixTH. After most of the original engine has been reimplemented in open
source code, the project will serve as a base from which extensions
and improvements to the original game can be made.

I've recently started playing this, and have already looked at packaging it
for personal use…

I'll work on cleaning up my packages and getting them into a fit state for
the archive.

I have put my packages up at http://debian.crustynet.org.uk/corsix-th/ (now
at version 0.11 from upstream). Since I was unable to get the packages ready
in time for the freeze, I've been holding off uploading to the archive
until after the release.

Hi,

any updates on the status of corsix-th? The freeze of Squeeze has
actually been over for so long that we have run into the next freeze :).

Also, since the package is new, it will end up in the NEW queue anyway
which means it's kept back automatically anyway and probably not pushed
into unstable before freeze is over as the NEW is currently processed
slower than usual.

I would suggest uploading the package now or, even better, hand it over
to the Debian Games team. I am CCing Markus Koschany as a representative
of the Games team. I have sponsored several packages he maintains and I
am very happy with his work. Maybe he'd agree to take over the package
in the team.

I'd naturally be happy to sponsor the upload.

Cheers,

Adrian

I'm feeling flattered. :) I think the Games Team is more a loosely band
of individuals at the moment, so i can only speak of myself. If i
understand it correctly, Chris intends to upload the package after the
release of wheezy. However if you would like to join the Games Team,
then you are more than welcome.

I think you should also take a closer look at the "game-data-packager"
which is a nice tool to package shareware or demos for people who are in
desperate need of content. This might be the right tool to package the
demo of Theme Hospital for example.

If you need assistance or a co-maintainer, please feel free to contact me.

Cheers,

Markus

Yes, my plan was to upload the packages to the archive once Wheezy is out
the door.

Another part of the reason for the delay was that when I first packaged this
it was still in quite an early state, with a number of bugs and missing
features still to be sorted out. Upstream are now getting a lot closer to a
stable release, so it's a bit more suitable for unleashing upon Debian users :)

I do think the suggestion of maintaining it under the umbrella of the Games
Team is a good one. I'll sort out joining the team and setting up a git repo
for the package on alioth sometime over the next few days.

Hey there!

Any news on corsix-th? Wheezy has already had its first update, so I
guess we can jump into getting corsix-th ready for an upload.
