Do you want to package and upload it or are you looking for someone to
package and upload it?

In any case, more about how WNPP works can be found at

The upload referenced in the mentors.debian.net pool includes
readaloud_1.2.0-1_i386.deb which is a tested package file downloaded from
readaloud.sourceforge.net and installed with the package installer with an
ubuntu environment (e.g., I already ran dupload -t mentor
readaloud_1.2.0-1_i386.changes).

I am not looking for someone to package it. I would like to think it is
worthy of uploading to the official area as is (i.e., I made a reasonable
effort to perform the RTFM step). If the mentor person helping with the
upload deems it in need of repackaging, I will do that with the mentor's
guidance.

Ok, thanks for the clarification. I just wanted to make sure you
wanted to send an ITP rather than a RFP.

In any case, ITPs have to be filed against the wnpp package, so I'm
reassigning your bug.

Package: readaloud
Version: 1.2.0-1
Severity: normal

I am looking for a sponsor for my package "readaloud". Please note that I
am not currently a subscriber to the debian-mentors mailing list.

* Package name    : readaloud
  Version         : 1.2.0-1
  Upstream Author : Joseph Patterson <joseph@photosessionsltd.com>
* URL             : http://readaloud.sourceforge.net
* License         : GPL
  Section         : text

It builds these binary packages:
readaloud - Reading program for plain text books

My motivation for maintaining this package is: I first created it in 2004
and continue to like it.

The package can be found on mentors.debian.net:
- URL: http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/r/readaloud
- Source repository: deb-src http://mentors.debian.net/debian unstable main contrib non-free
- dget http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/r/readaloud/readaloud_1.1.0-2.deb

I would be glad if someone uploaded this package for me.

Kind regards
 joseph patterson

>> * License         : GPL

The license reference is clear as is. On any current system, /usr/share/common-licenses/GPL is a softlink to /usr/share/common-licenses/GPL-3.

>> readaloud - Public Domain reading program for plain text books
>I think the license of the package should not be in the short description.
I agree that the adjectives "Public Domain" are non-essential and will
change the short description to "Reading program for plain text books".

Yes, I am the upstream developer.

See above fixed links

My second upload as readaloud_1.2.0-2.changes was done with a
readaloud_1.2.0.debian.tar.gz present in the dupload directory along with
the other files (e.g., readaloud_1.2.0-2_i386.deb).

dupload failed to copy the *debian.tar.gz file and subsequently issued a
lintian warning that the debian.tar.gz file is missing. This is confusing.
I don't understand requiring a file that can't be uploaded.

retitle 608271 RFP: readaloud -- Reading program for plain text books
noowner 608271
thanks

Hi,

This is an automatic email to change the status of readaloud back from ITP
(Intent to Package) to RFP (Request for Package), because this bug hasn't seen
any activity during the last 6 months.

If you are still interested in adopting readaloud, please send a mail to
<control@bugs.debian.org> with:

 retitle 608271 ITP: readaloud -- Reading program for plain text books
 owner 608271 !
 thanks

However, it is not recommended to keep ITP for a long time without acting on
the package, as it might cause other prospective maintainers to refrain from
packaging that software. It is also a good idea to document your progress on
this ITP from time to time, by mailing <608271@bugs.debian.org>.

Thank you for your interest in Debian,
