Description : A C++ toolkit for creative coding

Openframeworks is a c++ library designed to assist the creative process
by providing a simple and intuitive framework for experimentation.

The library is designed to work as a general purpose glue, and wraps
together several commonly used libraries under a tidy interface: openGL
for graphics, rtAudio for audio input and output, freeType for fonts,
freeImage for image input and output, quicktime for video playing and
sequence grabbing.

The code is written to be both cross platform (PC, Mac, Linux, iPhone)
and cross compiler. The API is designed to be minimal and easy to grasp.
There are very few classes, and inside of those classes, there are very
few functions. The code has been implemented so that within the classes
there are minimal cross-referencing, making it quite easy to rip out and
reuse, if you need, or to extend.

Simply put, openFrameworks is a tool that makes it much easier to make
things via code. We find it super useful, and we hope you do too.

Hi,

This is an automatic email to change the status of openframeworks back from ITP
(Intent to Package) to RFP (Request for Package), because this bug hasn't seen
any activity during the last 6 months.

If you are still interested in adopting openframeworks, please send a mail to
<control@bugs.debian.org> with:

retitle 606161 ITP: openframeworks -- A C++ toolkit for creative coding

 thanks

However, it is not recommended to keep ITP for a long time without acting on
the package, as it might cause other prospective maintainers to refrain from
packaging that software. It is also a good idea to document your progress on
this ITP from time to time, by mailing <606161@bugs.debian.org>.

Thank you for your interest in Debian,

Hi,
it would be useful for us to have this packaged for debian. Has there
been any progress? Do you have some (maybe half-working) package?

Thanks,
Zbyszek

I can see some OpenFramework packages here:

@Miriam, this is a reply to
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=606161
do you plan on updating your packages to a more recent OpenFramework
release?

   Antonio

I'm a bit overloaded at work right now, so that was not in my immediate plans. If someone wants to step in and make some packages, I'll be willing to give a helping hand. Maybe in some weeks I might find a way to get some time for that, as it seems there is interest on it, but I wasn't planning on properly maintaining it in Debian. I might be willing to help/comaintain/sponsor it if someone wants.

Greetings,
Miry

PS: I'll have a look at the changes and will try to build a newer package soon if the source is similar enough and doesn't take me too much time :)

Hello,

My name is Jorge Muñoz. I would like to package OpenFrameworks for
Debian.

I will begin with Miriam package and then go to the last release of OF
(Miriam, it would be wonderful if you could help me if I get lost.
Thanks in advance).

I am in contact with Alberto Garcia (agarcia@igalia.com), who is going
to help me in the process (lots of thanks, Berto).

Cheers,

Jorge

Hello,

I wanted to make a catch up of this development. So far, you can find an
update to Miriam's package here:
https://github.com/punkto/openFrameworks_0.061_debian_package

and a version of the last release of OF here:
https://github.com/punkto/openFrameworks_0.071_debian_package

It's still in an alfa stage. You can test it if you like and send me any
thought. I have post in OF forum and I am having some help from the
upstream:
http://forum.openframeworks.cc/index.php/topic,8629.0.html

You can find some binary files (for example in
https://github.com/punkto/openFrameworks_0.071_debian_package/tree/master/openframeworks-0.071/libs/freetype/lib/linux).
These are external libraries already compiled in the source files. I
have to see if I can find all that libraries between Debian packages and
package the missing ones.

Greetings,

Jorge

Hi,

A long time ago, you expressed interest in packaging openframeworks. Unfortunately,
it seems that it did not happen. In Debian, we try not to keep ITP bugs open
for a too long time, as it might cause other prospective maintainers to
refrain from packaging the software.

This is an automatic email to change the status of openframeworks back from ITP
(Intent to Package) to RFP (Request for Package), because this bug hasn't seen
any activity during the last 10 months.

If you are still interested in packaging openframeworks, please send a mail to
<control@bugs.debian.org> with:

It is also a good idea to document your progress on this ITP from time to
time, by mailing <606161@bugs.debian.org>. If you need guidance on how to
package this software, please reply to this email, and/or contact the
debian-mentors@lists.debian.org mailing list.

Thank you for your interest in Debian,
