  Description     : All-electron full-potential electronic-structure code

exciting is a full-potential all-electron Density-Functional-Theory
(DFT) package based on the Linearized Augmented Plane-Wave (LAPW)
method.
..
It can be applied to all kinds of materials, irrespective of the atomic
species involved, and also allows for the investigation of the
atomic-core region.
..
We particularly focus on excited state properties, within the framework
of time-dependent DFT (TDDFT) as well as within many-body perturbation
theory (MBPT).

This package will be part of the Debian Science nanoscale-physics
metapackage.

[Message part 1 (text/plain, inline)]
The upstream developers are using a non-numeric versioning scheme.

I have to discuss with them to decide what to do for the packaging.
This will take place in September.

Until then, the packaging efforts are on hold.

Yann.

Subject: Multi-distribution package in preparation

[Message part 1 (text/plain, inline)]
Hi,

Due to the diversity of configurations available in our scientific
network (http://etsf.eu/), we have decided to prepare all our packages
for different Debian-based distributions at once:

  * Debian Squeeze
  * Debian Wheezy
  * Ubuntu Lucid Lynx
  * Ubuntu Precise Pangolin
  * Mint 13

I'm currently preparing helper scripts to facilitate the task and will
be in touch with the respective packager teams.

We expect to have some packages ready this Summer.

Best regards,

Yann.

retitle 602097 RFP: exciting -- All-electron full-potential electronic-structure code
noowner 602097
tag 602097 - pending
thanks

Hi,

This is an automatic email to change the status of exciting back from ITP
(Intent to Package) to RFP (Request for Package), because this bug hasn't seen
any activity during the last 12 months.

If you are still interested in adopting exciting, please send a mail to
<control@bugs.debian.org> with:

 retitle 602097 ITP: exciting -- All-electron full-potential electronic-structure code
 owner 602097 !
 thanks

However, it is not recommended to keep ITP for a long time without acting on
the package, as it might cause other prospective maintainers to refrain from
packaging that software. It is also a good idea to document your progress on
this ITP from time to time, by mailing <602097@bugs.debian.org>.

Thank you for your interest in Debian,

Subject: Insufficient task force

[Message part 1 (text/plain, inline)]
Hi,

Our packaging task force is insufficient to deal with all the software
projects we initially intended to package and we have unfortunately to
reduce the list. We are thus leaving exciting to whoever would like to
adopt it. Please contact directly the upstream authors if you're
interested:

  http://exciting-code.org/contact

Thank you in advance.

Best regards,

Yann.
