  Version         : 0.02
  Upstream Author : Clinton Wong
* URL             : http://search.cpan.org/~clintdw/Digest-Tiger-0.02/Tiger.pm
* License : As Perl itself (GPL + Artistic)
  Programming Lang: Perl, C
  Description : A perl module that implements the tiger hash,
                    which is believed to be secure and
                    runs quickly on 64-bit processors.

This is a perl module implementing the well known Tiger hash.
The module is based on the refrence implementation written by
the designer's of the code Ross Anderson and Eli Biham.

The module can be found at CPAN using the link above or by searching for
the Perl module name 'Digest::Tiger'.

Subject: Module failture on some archs
Date: Fri, 21 Jan 2011 01:39:25 +0100
[Message part 1 (text/plain, inline)]
flum,

After some time of testing I got a bit closer to why this module does
not work on some archs:

The module uses the refence implementation in nealry unchanged from to
do the calculation itself.

The problem is that the refrence implementation is buggy. It does not
caclulate the same result on a given string for all archs.

I also discovered another problem (see #610254): Refence implementation
uses wrong casts on big endian systems and triggers FTBFS. This may
apply to this module as well. (I'm not sure.)

Before this module is packaged upstream should be contacted (I Cced him
in this mail) and asked to fix or replace the code used from refrence
implementation.
