Version: 1.0.2-17.1
Severity: serious
Justification: fails to build from source (but built successfully in the past)

See

and

The configure script aborts with a signal in the command line length
check, reproducible on gabrielli.

Cc:ing the mips porter list since this looks like a toolchain/kernel
issue. The same source built fine in the past.

Cheers,
Julien

The issue is actually that the configure script checks for the command
line length, but never stops increasing its size, so the script crashes
when the swap is exhausted and no memory can't be allocated anymore.

There does appear to be a sanity check but it seems to be set
ridiculously high (many gigabytes, I can't figure out exactly how many
due to not being sure about off by one errors at the end but I think
it's of the order of 24GB) despite the comment saying 1MB.

Reducing the counter limit from 32 to 20 makes it build but I think the
check in general is broken since it reports a limit much smaller than
2^20 indicating that it is continuing to look even after it runs into
the limit!

A new version of debian/patches/kfocus_1.0.2-16.diff reducing the
counter limit to 20 (unfortunately it seems cdbs-edit-patch rebuilt the
patch in a sufficiantly different way that diffing old patch and new
patch gives no meaninful result) is attatched which seems to fix the
immediate FTBFS (build test still ongoing) but ideally someone needs to
take a proper look at the code.
