Subject: ITP: neuron -- simulation environment for computational models of (networks of ) neurons

Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist

* Package name    : neuron
  Version         : 7.2
  Upstream Author : Michael Hines <michael.hines@yale.edu> and others
* URL             : http://www.neuron.yale.edu/
* License         : GPL
  Programming Lang: C, C++, Python
  Description : simulation environment for computational models of (networks of ) neurons

  NEURON is a simulation environment for modeling individual neurons and networks
  of neurons. It provides tools for conveniently building, managing, and using
  models in a way that is numerically sound and computationally efficient. It is
  particularly well-suited to problems that are closely linked to experimental
  data, especially those that involve cells with complex anatomical and
  biophysical properties.
  .
  NEURON offers
   * "natural syntax," which allows them to specify model properties in
     familiar idioms
   * efficient and painless spatial and temporal discretization
   * several different, user-selectable numerical integration methods.
   * convenient user interface (interpreters + GUI)
   * user-extendable library of biophysical mechanisms

This work will be carried out in collaboration with NEURON contributor,
Eilif Muller. Very scarse initial packaging temporarily made available on
https://bitbucket.org/yarikoptic/nrn

Preliminary packages will be made available (whenever such) from
http://neuro.debian.net repository.

thanks

Hi,

This is an automatic email to change the status of neuron back from ITP
(Intent to Package) to RFP (Request for Package), because this bug hasn't seen
any activity during the last 6 months.

If you are still interested in adopting neuron, please send a mail to
<control@bugs.debian.org> with:

 retitle 597196 ITP: neuron -- simulation environment for computational models of (networks of ) neurons
 owner 597196 !
 thanks

However, it is not recommended to keep ITP for a long time without acting on
the package, as it might cause other prospective maintainers to refrain from
packaging that software. It is also a good idea to document your progress on
this ITP from time to time, by mailing <597196@bugs.debian.org>.

Thank you for your interest in Debian,

Hi Lucas,

it there a possibility to leave my/NeuroDebian WNPP bugs alone? I
really have no time to play the game of reopening them (or is there a
convenient mutt shortcut known to humanity? ;-) )

besides those:

518494  RFP -> worth deleting
546919  ITP -> RFP

ITPs -- some of them take longer than necessary but they are on
my/our radar. RFPs -- all look like alive projects and of our/Debian
interest to get them packaged, thus should be kept alive.
