[Message part 1 (text/plain, inline)]
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist

Package name : evansdebugger
Version : 0.9.15
Upstream Author : Evan Teran <evan.teran@gmail.com>
URL : http://www.codef00.com/
License : GPL
Programming Lang: C++/Qt
Description : Graphical debugger and disassembler for ELF binaries

EDB (Evan's Debugger) is a modular and modern disassembler and debugger for
binary ELF files based on ptrace API and edisasm lib. EDB is very similar to
OllyDbg, a famous freeware debugger for PE (Portable Executable) files. The
intent of EDB is to debug binaries without source code. It's possible to set
conditional and inconditional breakpoints, display memory stack, processor
registers state and more. The power of EDB can be increased with many
plugins.

Hi,
I would recommend renaming the package to edb. It is a more concise name,
and also it matches other debugger package names such as gdb. Name of edb is
also adopted by Gentoo, Fedora, and probably some other distros.
By the way how is the packaging process going on? What is your estimate for
the time the package will be ready?

Hi Ebrahim, how are you?

Thanks for asking. The repositories already have an edb package. Look:

$ apt-cache show edb

Description: database program for GNU Emacs
EDB is a database program for GNU Emacs. It permits you to
manipulate structured (or not-so-structured) data within
Emacs and provides many of the usual database features.
Homepage: http://www.gnuvola.org/software/edb
Tag: implemented-in::lisp, role::plugin, suite::emacs, use::editing,
works-with::db

My suggestion is to rename it to edb-debugger. What do you think?

I'm finishing this package. I think I'll have a release this month yet.

Best regards,

Hi Fernando. I'm fine, thanks. :)
Now that "edb" package name is already taken, "edb-debugger" looks
better than "evansdebugger" to me. Another option that comes to mind
is "edbg" which matches "kdbg" and "e2dbg" well. However there could
be a small chance of confusion between edbg and e2dbg, but I
personally would ignore that chance. Yet another choice (to make
things more complex!) is "edebugger" which avoids the redundancy of
"db" and "-debugger" in "edb-debugger".
I hope everything goes on well, and we get a Debian package for this
nice debugger one of these days.

Hi,

This is an automatic email to change the status of edb-debuger back from ITP
(Intent to Package) to RFP (Request for Package), because this bug hasn't seen
any activity during the last 6 months.

If you are still interested in adopting edb-debuger, please send a mail to
<control@bugs.debian.org> with:

 retitle 596571 ITP: edb-debuger -- Graphical debugger and disassembler

However, it is not recommended to keep ITP for a long time without acting on
the package, as it might cause other prospective maintainers to refrain from
packaging that software. It is also a good idea to document your progress on
this ITP from time to time, by mailing <596571@bugs.debian.org>.

Thank you for your interest in Debian,
