Description : TestU01 utilities for the empirical statistical testing of uniform random number generators

TestU01 is a software library, implemented in the ANSI C language, and
offering a collection of utilities for the empirical statistical testing of
uniform random number generators.

The library implements several types of random number generators in generic
form, as well as many specific generators proposed in the literature or found
in widely-used software. It provides general implementations of the classical
statistical tests for random number generators, as well as several others
proposed in the literature, and some original ones. These tests can be applied
to the generators predefined in the library and to user-defined generators.
Specific tests suites for either sequences of uniform random numbers in [0,1] or
bit sequences are also available. Basic tools for plotting vectors of points
produced by generators are provided as well.

[Message part 1 (text/plain, inline)]
I've had some contact with the authors, and they're about to change the
license to GPL. (Thanks to them again for this).
The website already reflects this, I've asked them to change it in the
tar-ball, too.

The accompanying paper is however copyrighted by the ACM.

Cheers,
Chris.

As of August 2013, I can't see any description about license change on
the website of TestU01. There is no source code distribution with
GPL, either.

Could you give me status update? If it is distributed under GPL,
I'm willing to package it for Debian.

Could you possibly just ask the upstream author what has happened?

Chris.

I wrote to the contact point. And then, the page is updated now:

  http://www.iro.umontreal.ca/~simardr/testu01/copyright.html

It says:

    All rights reserved.

TestU01 is distributed under the GNU General Public License as
published by the Free Software Foundation, and is also available
    under a commercial licence.

Any changes made to this package must be clearly identified as
    such.

The source code distribution has not yet updated its copyright notice,
though.
