Hi,

Hibernate 3.5 is going to be uploaded to unstable soon
(hopefully), please see #589501 for more information.

However, eucalyptus FTBFS with that Hibernate version,
so I'm including a patch that could fix that issue.

Dear Chris,

I just searched the sources of eucalyptus for the string “SerializableBlob” and
found nothing else that the include line that Miguel is proposing to patch.

Can you confirm that we can apply the patch so that the Debian Hibernate
maintainers can go ahead and upgrade the package to version 3.5?

Hi Torsten,

no news. Given that Eucalyptus in Debian is still in a testing phase, I propose
to go ahead and upload the patched package, so that more people can test if it
works well.

It also needs the hibernate v 3.3 packages.  Ping me if you want to try

thank you for the report.

We briefly discussed this problem on the pkg-eucalyptus-maintainers list:

But before investing hard work in eucalyptus 1.6.2, we need to consider to
upgrade on 2.0.0 instead. Version 1.6.2 will probably not be supported
throurough the live of Squeeze anyway. The problem of course is that I am not
sure if the upgrade to 2.0.0 can be done in time.

I have not asked for Testing removal because I did not yet discuss this with
the other maintainers, and because the latest release update (September 3rd)
suggested to me that it would be automatic: “Leaf packages with open RC bugs
will be removed in the coming weeks”. But if it is helpful, I can open a
request for removal on the BTS.

I hope that this open RC but has not wasted your time. If your motivation was
more on Eucalyptus itself, I am sure that you are most welcome to join us and
work on the 2.0.0 packages, or 1.6.2 if you prefer.
