Subject: PTS: can't search for directories or any-file-below a certain directory
Date: Wed, 23 Jun 2010 18:15:29 +0200
Package: qa.debian.org
Severity: normal

Hi,

The PTS package content search function does not seem to support
searching for directories or just any file below a certain directory.

Example query: "List all packages that ship a file in some foobar.d/
directory, e.g. /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/" which could be translated
into "packages with a file containing foobar.d in the *path*-name".

Hi Andreas.

I'm having a look at bug #586931, that you filed long ago and that never
had reply.

http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=586931

Which content search function are you referring to? I don't know
anything like that for PTS.

Giovanni.

Could you please use meaningful subjects when replying to bugs? Not
everyone who receives bug mail has the BTS bug numbers memorized. :)

Hi.

(adding the WWW team, below there is a description of the bug)

Ok, this is not the PTS. I'm reassigning this bug to www.debian.org (and
Cc:-ing debian-www@l.d.o). Moreover, this really appears to be wishlist
severity, since it asks to add a new feature.

For the WWW team: Andreas is asking to add a feature to the package.d.o
search facility, namely the possibility to search for packages that
contain files inside some specified directory. At the moment it seems
that searching by a file name only searches in basenames, while it would
be helpful to have also the search in the full path.

Thanks, Giovanni.

There was a missing control@ (B)CC, so the reassign etc never actually
got actioned; doing so now.
