I request assistance with maintaining the chromium-browser package.

In reality, the team mentioned in the Maintainer field currently consists of me.
This package really needs a team to work on it.

Alioth project: https://alioth.debian.org/projects/pkg-chromium/

Currently I use bzr because the original Ubuntu maintainers use it and
because I didn't find a way to to use git-import-dsc/git-buildpackage/etc
with the only debian/ dir.

The package description is:
Chromium is an open-source browser project that aims to build a safer, faster,
and more stable way for all Internet users to experience the web.
 .
Chromium serves as a base for Google Chrome, which is Chromium rebranded (name
and logo) with very few additions such as usage tracking and an auto-updater
 system.
 .
This package contains the Chromium browser

Hi,

What are the major outstanding issues and development plan?

I'm afraid I can't promise any help, but I will certainly try to be useful.

Fixing bugs (for example #584946, #581507), remove the latest embedded
libs (glew, gtest, etc.), and discuss if we can support it in squeeze
(I'm waiting for an access to chromium security team)

Cheers,
Giuseppe.

Hi Raymond,

In March, Raymond Yip wrote:

Yes, we can definitely use help! I'd suggest subscribing to the
chromium package through the PTS[1] if you haven't already. Then some
tasks that might be useful would be:

 - convincing the build system to stop using -Werror (bug#671994)

 - checking if non Debian-specific bugs are already reported upstream
   and forwarding them if not

 - using more system copies of libraries instead of embedded code
   copies

 - forwarding patches to optionally use system copies of libraries
   upstream (http://crbug.com/28287 tracks this).

 - simplifying and documenting debian/rules

 - understanding how debian/copyright is generated and convincing it to:
   - use correct DEP-5 syntax (see copyright-format.html from the
     debian-policy package)
   - combine stanzas that have no difference aside from copyright
     dates

 - plenty of other things :)

Sorry for the slow reply. If there is anything I or anyone else can
do to help, just ask.

Thanks,
Jonathan
