Message #5 received at submit@bugs.debian.org (full text, mbox, reply):
Package: squid3
Version: 3.1.3-2
Severity: important
I just updated squid 3 on my squeeze box and now I get an error when trying to
visit some urls in a browser:
The following error was encountered while trying to retrieve the URL:
http://linuxtoday.com/
Socket Failure
The system returned: (97) Address family not supported by protocol
Squid is unable to create a TCP socket, presumably due to excessive load.
Please retry your request.
Your cache administrator is webmaster.
This problem didn't happen with the previous squid 3 in squeeze and doesn't
happen when I don't use squid. It doesn't happen on all urls but it does
happen on a lot of them.

Message #10 received at 581901@bugs.debian.org (full text, mbox, reply):
Hi Brent,
the message you receive is due to missing IPv6 support in your kernel. Either you disabled it at boot time or blocked the ipv6 module from load.
The current IPv6 stack in Squid requires that IPv6 is enabled even if no IPv6 connection is used. This issue is known upstream (see http://www.squid-cache.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=2753) and will be resolved in then next new upstream release.
Regards,
L
