Hello!

I had installed packages with ``apt-get --no-install-recommends'', now
wanted to additionally install the packages' ``Recommends:'', and
wondered how to do that in an automated fashion. The apt-get (and
related) documentation has not been helpful, neither has the APT IRC
channel (with its one guy in it) ;-), and I finally had Guillem Jover
answer my question privately: --fix-policy, as mentioned in
<http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-announce/2007/08/msg00000.html>.
That's worth documenting in the manpage, I'd say.

Regards,
 Thomas

Hi Thomas Schwinge!

First of all: Thanks for your report! :)

Note that the "automatic fashion" currently installs the recommends
for ALL packages. We have no way to express "fix the policy only for
package A". (Should be changed, but looks non-trivial at first glance
but i will give it a try later)

The channel is pretty lowtraffic - as well the list or even bugreport
responses - simply by the fact that the active member count of
the APT team is… lets say: … low.

I'd say so, too. :)
Do you have any suggestions for wording?

Best regards / Mit freundlichen Grüßen,
