Hi,
I just uploaded tracker 0.8.1-1 to experimental and I plan to get it
into squeeze.
Please test your package, if it works correctly with tracker 0.8.
I quickly glanced at the code. catfish doesn't seem to use the D-Bus
interface or libtrackerclient (which both have changed its API),
but the command line interface.
tracker-search still understand the -l parameter, but the output changed
a bit:
$ tracker-search foobar
Results: 67
file:///home/michael/bzr/libnih/nih-dbus/tests/test_dbus_object.c
file:///home/michael/debian/build-area/gtk+2.0-2.20.0/ChangeLog.pre-2-10

file:///home/michael/debian/build-area/gtk+2.0-2.20.0/gtk/tests/testing.c
....
Also, there is no longer a trackerd process. (it was split into tracker-store and separate
miner processes).
If you need more information, please don't hesitate to ask.
Regards,
Michael

I just tested catfish with tracker 0.6.96-2, and it doesn't seem to work either.
So, there won't be a regression if we switch to 0.8 :-)
Still, it would be nice to get the tracker backend fixed to work with tracker,
ideally both 0.6 and 0.8.

Michael

I checked the output of tracker-search, it looks like this:
tracker 0.6.96:
# tracker-search linus
Defaulting to 'files' service
Results: 4
/home/michael/docs/Git_Community_Book.pdf
/home/michael/docs/ch04.pdf
/home/michael/docs/iptables-tutorial.pdf
/home/michael/docs/linuxsymposium2006-vol-2.pdf
...
tracker 0.8.1
# tracker-search linus
Results: 35
file:///home/michael/debian/rsyslog/plugins/imklog/ksym.c
file:///home/michael/debian/sysvinit/doc/Changelog
file:///home/michael/debian/udisks/NEWS
The problem, is the leading whitespace in front of the search result.
I've attached a simple patch, which fixes it for me and makes catfish work both
with tracker 0.6 and 0.8.

Michael
