Hi!
As see it, the situation is as follows:
a) Two RC bugs since september last year; both without a reaction from the
maintainer
b) one NMU in octiber 2008 without maintainer ACK
c) contains at leat embeded code copies of:
* gdb
* itcl
* tcl
* tk
* readline
and maybe from texinfo, libgui and libiberty (haven't checked, if the
last ones are already packed)
d) Most of these embeded code copies are outdated
e) Some of these embeded code copies FTBFS
f) While it is possible to tell the package to use some system libraries
(at least for tcl, tk and itcl it seems the case), it's not sure if it's
possible for all
g) New upstream is availabel since Jul 2009
h) Only 36 popcon votes
This package is clearly in an unmaintained and in an not releasable state.
As no one seems to be interested in using it, I think it's a good idea to
get rid of it.
Best regards,
Alexander

Hi maintainer!
During the recent BSP I (an several other DDs) stumbeled over your
package "insight", which has currently 2 RC bugs open, a quite low
popcon value as well as a quite difficult situation with regard to
embedded code copies in the tarball (acutally: I doubt it would be
accepted should it hit the new queue in its current state). My first
reaction was to reqpuest removal of your package due to QA concerns.
Are you okay with the removal or do you plan to fix at least the
remaining RC bugs and get rid of the usage of the embeded code copies?
Best Regards,
Alexander

Message #17 received at 566579-close@bugs.debian.org (full text, mbox, reply):
We believe that the bug you reported is now fixed; the following
package(s) have been removed from unstable:
insight | 6.5-1 | source, hurd-i386
insight | 6.7.1.dfsg.1-10.1 | source, alpha, amd64, armel, hppa, i386, ia64, kfreebsd-amd64, kfreebsd-i386, mips, mipsel, powerpc, s390, sparc
------------------- Reason -------------------
RoQA; Insane packaging; unmaintained; low popcon
----------------------------------------------
Note that the package(s) have simply been removed from the tag
database and may (or may not) still be in the pool; this is not a bug.
The package(s) will be physically removed automatically when no suite
references them (and in the case of source, when no binary references
it). Please also remember that the changes have been done on the
master archive (ftp-master.debian.org) and will not propagate to any
mirrors (ftp.debian.org included) until the next cron.daily run at the
earliest.
Packages are usually not removed from testing by hand. Testing tracks
unstable and will automatically remove packages which were removed
from unstable when removing them from testing causes no dependency
problems. The release team can force a removal from testing if it is
really needed, please contact them if this should be the case.
Bugs which have been reported against this package are not automatically
removed from the Bug Tracking System. Please check all open bugs and
close them or re-assign them to another package if the removed package
was superseded by another one.
Thank you for reporting the bug, which will now be closed. If you
have further comments please address them to 566579@bugs.debian.org.

Message #22 received at 566579@bugs.debian.org (full text, mbox, reply):
Note that very probably the low popcon is because people install it,
notice it doesn't work at all (see #546825), and remove it. *Not*
because there is low interest on it.
There is no way to know how many people are actually interested in
insight, but build it from source or get binaries elsewhere because
the Debian package is broken beyond usability.
