Please encourage upstream to submit this driver for inclusion in the
kernel.  If it's accepted, we can include it in the linux-2.6 package
and users will not need to build the driver themselves.

The request has been forwarded upstream and I'm awaiting a response.
Having been in touch with the author in putting together a package
that uses DKMS to build the module, I know that he is unlikely to have
much time to dedicate to the task. Also, given the way the module
works - and its dependency on usbmuxd, I'm not sure its place is in
the mainline kernel. I will provide further info once the author has
provided me with a response.

At this point I'm seeking sponsorship of the DKMS based package for
which the VCS can be found here:
