Message #5 received at submit@bugs.debian.org (full text, mbox, reply):
[Message part 1 (text/plain, inline)]
Package: iceweasel
Version: 3.5.6-1
When I close a tab, either clicking on 'x' icon or pressing the combination
'ctrl+w', iceweasel sometime crashes.
Launching it by konsole, I got:
The following line is printed repeatedly, while iceweasel is running:
(firefox-bin:20654): Gdk-WARNING **: XID collision, trouble ahead
This output comes when iceweasel crashes:
Gdk-ERROR **: The program 'firefox-bin' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'RenderBadPicture (invalid Picture parameter)'.
(Details: serial 997131 error_code 168 request_code 151 minor_code 7)
(Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line
option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)
aborting...
[1]+ Trace/breakpoint trap iceweasel
Trace/breakpoint trap
I suggest you to fix this problem.
I am using Debian GNU/Linux Unstable, kernel 2.6.31-1-amd64 and libc6
2.10.2-2. All packages are updated to the most recent version available in
the repository.

Can you verify that downgrading to 1.8.8-2 makes iceweasel work better ?

Downgrading to 1.8.8-2, the warning message is not printed more.
Also iceweasel seems to not crash now. So this solution would seem to work.
If it happens again (crash), even with 1.8.8-2 libcairo2, I report it again.
Thanks!
Cheers,
Alberto

No need to, you are just victim of a known bug in libcairo2.
Cheers,
Mike

Hi,
This may be a xulrunner bug[1], but before I can backport this fix, test
it, and upload, it would be better to keep cairo off testing, as it
triggers the bug. Which is why I leave the bug on cairo and raise
severity.
There is also a xulrunner bug about this issue.
It would be nice, though, if libcairo2 could add a Breaks:
xulrunner-1.9.1 <= 1.9.1.8-3, xulrunner-1.9
to avoid any further problem with partial upgrades from lenny.
(there would probably be a need for icedove, and other mozilla based
products, too)
Cheers,
Mike
