[Message part 1 (text/plain, inline)]
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist

* Package name    : cope
  Version : none yet (rc1 as of 2009-12-07)
  Upstream Author : Benjamin Sago <ben@cytzol.org>
* URL             : http://stuff.cytzol.org/cope/
* License         : like Perl
  Programming Lang: Perl
  Description : colour wrapper for text level programs (e.g. ps, stat, xrandr)

cope is a wrapper around programs that output to a terminal, to give
them colour for utility and aesthetics while still keeping them the same
at the text level.

Adding colours on top of text makes it easy to see when something's
amiss. For utility, you can stop hunting through your terminal's scroll
buffer to locate an error when it's clearly highlighted in red, or
locating a network address hidden in dense output when they're marked in
yellow and blue (local and foreign, respectively). As for aesthetics,
even the simplest utility can be brightened up by adding a dash of
colour on top.

cope's scripts are written in Perl, so they're as flexible (and fast) as
Perl allows.

This sound interessting. However there are already similar tools in
Debian. I would like to look into packaging it, and have retitled the
RFP accordingly.

Hi

FYI: I'm in progress finishing the package. But however it currently
still FTBFS when building in a chroot environment, which has to be
solved first. I contacted too upstream author.

Hi

I have set that ITP for cope back to RFP. Please note the upstream url
is not anymore accessible, but the git repo is still there, and
upstream seems to maintain it, last update was done on end of march.
