Hello Julian,

Just wondering where you were with this ITP, if you no longer have the
time and haven't put very much work into it myself and Andrew Mitchell
would be willing to take this ITP on if you would like. Please just let
me know.

Not sure. Parts of it are certainly something that trademark could
apply to. [I think it's ok if it was "works with Ubuntu One", but the
"Ubuntu One client" may be probablematic.]

This is something that should be worked out with the Ubuntu One
developers and/or Ubuntu people. So long as we and all of our
downstream have the ability to exercise the rights guaranteed by the
DFSG via a trademark grant (or probably even just e-mail communication
to that effect), it should be redistributable in main. [Indeed, it may
even be the case for #564276 as well.]

Let me get an Ubuntu person to weigh in on this.

Just searching the web a bit I found some blog post from mako about this[1].
But I'm still not sure if the trademark will affect in this case the use of the
name «Ubuntu» for a commercial purpose without the one already approved by
canonical with ubuntu-one service, in that case if some one want to modify this
client and use it with their own services will need to re-brand the software
though.

Cheers

I've passed this on to upstream developers for a response, they'll
hopefully get a useful response from the appropriate people inside
Canonical.

Thanks,

I've talked with Matt Zimmerman, who talked with the correct people at
Ubuntu, who confirmed that it was accpetable use from their
perspective, that it was "NOT necessary to rename or rebrand these
packages from a trademark perspective". He indicated that the
trademark policy as described on the website was primarily directed at
Ubuntu as a distribution. [This is fairly similar to the way Debian
itself polices its trademarks.]

So, the names and such should all be ok, but we should fix the menus
in software-center (#564276) as appropriate.

retitle 559752 RFP: ubuntuone-client -- Ubuntu One client
noowner 559752
thanks

Hi,

This is an automatic email to change the status of ubuntuone-client back from ITP
(Intent to Package) to RFP (Request for Package), because this bug hasn't seen
any activity during the last 6 months.

If you are still interested in adopting ubuntuone-client, please send a mail to
<control@bugs.debian.org> with:

retitle 559752 ITP: ubuntuone-client -- Ubuntu One client
 owner 559752 !
 thanks

However, it is not recommended to keep ITP for a long time without acting on
the package, as it might cause other prospective maintainers to refrain from
packaging that software. It is also a good idea to document your progress on
this ITP from time to time, by mailing <559752@bugs.debian.org>.

Thank you for your interest in Debian,

Hello,

I'm new happy french user of the debian distribution (Unstable one)
I came to debian from ubuntu (like many others) and i was using Ubuntu one.
I was wondering if the Ubuntu one client will come one day in debian repos.
And i found this bug reported.
So it's just an email to know if there is still a project to add
UbuntuOne client to repos or if the project is burried.

Best regards.
(Please excuse me for my bad english).
