Package: bc
Version: 1.06.95-2
Severity: important
User: doko@debian.org
Usertags: readline6

Sent to http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2009/09/msg00549.html
As a package maintainer you got this email directly as well.

Both libreadline-dev (>= 6.0) and libreadline6-dev are now available
in unstable and testing. If possible, please replace the libreadline5-dev
build dependency with libreadline-dev, so that in future changes of the
libreadline soname binNMU's can be used for this kind of update.

The package still build-depends on libreadline5-dev. Please
change the dependency to libreadline-dev, before libreadline5-dev
isn't built anymore.

Packages which cannot use readline6 (GPLv3) should build-depend
on libreadline-gplv2-dev instead.

bc depends on "libreadline5-dev | libreadline-dev". Is there some
reason why this is not acceptable?

yes, because buildds still select readline5. please revert the order.

A friendly poke - still seems to be the case in sid. The result:

The following NEW packages will be installed:
  bc [1.06.95-2] libreadline5{a} [5.2-8]
0 packages upgraded, 2 newly installed, 0 to remove and 3 not upgraded.
Need to get 261 kB of archives. After unpacking 717 kB will be used.

While the rest of my system, at least, is successfully on
libreadline6. A rebuild would be great!
