As a package maintainer you got this email directly as well.
Both libreadline-dev (>= 6.0) and libreadline6-dev are now available
in unstable and testing. If possible, please replace the libreadline5-dev
build dependency with libreadline-dev, so that in future changes of the
libreadline soname binNMU's can be used for this kind of update.
Merged 553712 553719.

Message #12 received at 553712@bugs.debian.org (full text, mbox, reply):
The package still build-depends on libreadline5-dev. Please
change the dependency to libreadline-dev, before libreadline5-dev
isn't built anymore.
Packages which cannot use readline6 (GPLv3) should build-depend
on libreadline-gplv2-dev instead.
Severity set to 'serious' from 'important'

Dear maintainer,
I've prepared an NMU for abook (versioned as 0.5.6-7.1) and
uploaded it to DELAYED/2. Please feel free to tell me if I
should delay it longer.
Regards.
