Subject: Iceweasel quits with 'RenderBadPicture (invalid Picture, parameter)'
Date: Wed, 21 Oct 2009 11:27:34 +0300
Package: iceweasel
Version: 3.5.3-2
Severity: important

Iceweasel will randomly and unpredictably disappear. This may happen
with any site, whether it contains Flash and other media elements or not.
It often happens when I close a tab.

This is the trace produced by gdb:

The program 'firefox-bin' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'RenderBadPicture (invalid Picture parameter)'.
  (Details: serial 403204 error_code 156 request_code 147 minor_code 7)
  (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line
option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error()
function.)

Subject: Maybe it's a libcario2 problem?
Date: Thu, 22 Oct 2009 09:28:27 +0200
[Message part 1 (text/plain, inline)]
I have same(I hope) problem with iceweasel's crashes. After closing of
several tabs, browser crashes.

After some testing, I think it might be connected with libcario2
1.9.4-1 from experimental. Downgrading libcario2 to version from
unstable(1.8.8-2) fixed(?) problem.

Testing will be appreciated.

Output from gdb is attached. Iceweasel was started with --sync option.

I downgraded to version 1.8.8-2 of libcairo2 and I haven't had a crash
in 3 hours. Usually, it would occur within ten minutes of opening the
browser.

OK, I did

And finally stopped getting

The program 'firefox-bin' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'RenderBadPicture (invalid Picture parameter)'.

I'm getting this as well, with libcairo2, on an up-to-date Debian
unstable. Almost every time I close a tab, IceWeasel crashes with this
error. I also get it in Eclipse, when taking a code suggestion (when I
hit Enter to accept it):

brian@brians-laptop:~$ eclipse
The program 'Eclipse' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'RenderBadPicture (invalid Picture parameter)'.
