Package: qemu
Version: 0.10.6-1
Severity: normal
Hi all!
After launching qemu the terminal starting qemu does not work with
sudo any more, seems something of the hidden input part does not
receive any input any more (at least pressing return does not cause
any reaction).
This happends independent from the way qemu was launched, e.g.
backgrounding with &, using -daemonize or just shutting down the
guest.
Regards
Christoph

This is not reproducible here. Could you please give us the command line
you are using to start qemu?

qemu -kernel-kqemu -hda /media/extern/freeart/kfreebsd.img -daemonize -redir tcp:1922::22 -nographic
% ssh root@localhost
root@localhost's password:
And here it hangs, No reaction on, at least, the return
character. Same for sudo but ssh was easier as sudo password is cached
for some time.

Ok, it's reproducible now, it's a bad interaction between -daemonize and
-nographic.

This is finally fixed upstream with this patch:
http://git.qemu.org/?p=qemu.git;a=commit;h=ab51b1d568e02c80b1abf9016bda3a86dc1db389
Qemu now does not allow to use -daemonize and -nographic together,
because -nographic - according to the docs - redirects guest
serial, parallel and other ports - to stdin/stdout, which are
closed by -daemonize. In order to achieve the desired effect,
one have to redirect all "extra" ports to null explicitly,
instead of using -nographic. See comments in the patch
for details.
