Description : ascii puzzle platformer inspired by Valve's Portal
ASCIIpOrtal is a text based puzzle game inspired by the popular video game. In
ASCIIpOrtal you overcome challenges by placing portal way-points, joining two
points in the map. If they player or any object passes through one portal
way-point it will seamlessly exit the other. Since both way-points are the same
point on the map the player's view through the portal reflects this and space
warps around you as you pass through the portal.
Grab your hand-held portal device and enter the test chambers for a
non-euclidean good time!
Inspired by Increpare's Portile game (http://www.increpare.com/2008/11/portile/)
and Super Serif Bros (http://foon.co.uk/farcade/ssb/) and Valve's Portal.

Hi,
This is an automatic email to change the status of asciiportal back from ITP
(Intent to Package) to RFP (Request for Package), because this bug hasn't seen
any activity during the last 6 months.
If you are still interested in adopting asciiportal, please send a mail to
<control@bugs.debian.org> with:
retitle 548031 ITP: asciiportal -- puzzle jump'n'run adventure game
owner 548031 !
thanks
However, it is not recommended to keep ITP for a long time without acting on
the package, as it might cause other prospective maintainers to refrain from
packaging that software. It is also a good idea to document your progress on
this ITP from time to time, by mailing <548031@bugs.debian.org>.
Thank you for your interest in Debian,

I actually have an almost-ready package for ASCIIpOrtal in the Debian
Games Team's Git repository; just a couple of copyright issues remain
to be clarified with the upstream developers.
Sorry for the delay!
G'luck,
Peter

ASCIIpOrtal is a terminal game where you have a gun that shoots doors.
I recently installed ASCIIpOrtal on my N900 running Maemo. Since I like
the game, I would like to have access to it in Debian. It seems Peter
Pentchev tried to package it once, but gave up in September 2010.
Upstream seems to be offline: <http://cymonsgames.com/asciiportal>
Upstream source copy: <https://github.com/cymonsgames/ASCIIpOrtal>
This repository of the Debian games team looks abandoned:
<http://anonscm.debian.org/cgit/pkg-games/asciiportal.git/>
There seems to exist no package named “asciiportal” or “asciip0rtal”:
<https://packages.debian.org/search?keywords=asciiportal>
<https://packages.debian.org/search?keywords=asciip0rtal>

Can anyone tell me what the copyright issues were? I am willing to work
on the issues with upstream and create replacement assets if necessary.

Yeah, I kind of dropped the ball on this back then, didn't I...
Let me take a look, try to restore my repositories (I suffered a data
loss due to a stolen laptop some months ago), see what the copyright
issues were, see what the situation with libxcurses was... I'll get back
to you later today.
Thanks for your interest in ASCIIpOrtal, let's see if we can try to bring
it up!
G'luck,
Peter
