Description : Utility to automatically build a Debian package of Skype

Something like the googleearth-package, but to build a Skype package.

Skype is a proprietary peer-to-peer Internet telephony (VoIP) software.
The Skype communications system is notable for its broad range of features,
including free voice and video conferencing, and its ability to use peer to
peer (decentralized) technology to overcome common firewall and NAT problems.
But Skype is not freely redistribuable.

Hi!

Skype already provides .deb packages (and even a repository).
What a package "skype-package" will add to that? What advantages will it bring
to Debian users?

Best regards,
Nelson

A 64-bit packet and one with the static version.

Something like that mediubuntu provides.

I agree with Anders.

I have been using the skype-static package from medibuntu (Hardy version) on
Debian Lenny, because the non-static package provided by skype has some
issues with the libqt version in lenny. Mainly when using a webcam, the
buttons and menus on the window dissapear until the webcam is stopped.

If debian could provide several packages that would fetch and place the
binaries in the right places, I think that would be great. Also, like Anders
said, this would enable the creation of a amd64 package.

Thanks
