Subject: buildd.emdebian.org: dash - failed diversion of missing manpage
Date: Sat, 15 Aug 2009 14:19:30 +0100
Package: buildd.emdebian.org
Severity: normal

dash tries to divert a manpage and no manpage exists in Grip.

dpkg --force-all -i /var/cache/apt/archives/dash_0.5.5.1-2.3em1_i386.deb
(Reading database ...
dpkg: warning: files list file for package `dash' missing, assuming
package has no files currently installed.

Preparing to replace dash 0.5.5.1-2.3em1 (using

dpkg (subprocess): unable to execute new post-removal script: No such

dpkg: error while cleaning up:
subprocess new post-removal script returned error exit status 2
Errors were encountered while processing:
 /var/cache/apt/archives/dash_0.5.5.1-2.3em1_i386.deb

Current workaround is to unpack dash and then force-all install it.

# dpkg -x /var/cache/apt/archives/dash_0.5.5.1-2.3em1_i386.deb /
# dpkg --force-all -i /var/cache/apt/archives/dash_0.5.5.1-2.3em1_i386.deb
# dpkg --configure -a
# apt-get -f install

More testing needed.

That was the initial error report, however, the subsequent report is
more complex:

Hmm. Maybe this has something to do with dash not being pre-installed
by the installer. Needs testing in a Grip chroot.

That's the wrong system info too - still waiting for #525211 to be
fixed before reporting bugs directly from Emdebian Grip.

Actual arch was i386.
