Package: ratpoison
Version: 1.4.4-1
Severity: minor
Since 1.4.4 the .ratpoisonrc commands "fgcolor" and "bgcolor" don't
work anymore for text. Every text ratpoison displays (startup message,
window list, etc.) is with either black (normal) or white
(highlighted) font (the default colors).
set fgcolor orange
set bgcolor black
as I used it before don't have any effect on text anymore while
e.g. the highlighted background in the window list still is orange
(but with white text instead of black text).
So basically the new font rendering seems to have broken text color
configuration.

Axel Beckert found a bug in the Xft patch: The new s->color is only set
in init_screen and not updated in set_fgcolor when s->fg_color is
changed.

Works fine here as it did before the last release. Thanks!
P.S. to Bernhard:
Two build-dependencies were missing: texinfo for /usr/bin/makeinfo
(probably via dh_installinfo) and quilt. I'm not sure if I set up the
debian package from git correctly. Basically I did a git clone,
created the orig.tar.gz by excluding the debian and .git directories,
then called ./autogen.sh as mentioned on
http://ratpoison.antidesktop.net/wiki/Installation, edited the
changelog and did a debuild. Could it be that this has been caused by
the recent addition of trigger support to the info package and
appropriate changes to debhelper?
The second missing build-dependency is also mentioned by lintian:
http://lintian.debian.org/maintainer/brlink@debian.org.html#ratpoison

if you had created the .orig.tar.gz by calling make dist, all files
needing texinfo would have been created and included in the .tar.gz.
(in other words: if you create a too small .orig.tar.gz, it is no surprise
you have to add more build-dependencies to create the additional files
at build time, and perhaps adopt the clean target to clean them up).

If you want the patches, you have to apply them before doing the
debuild. ratpoison works with pre-applied patches (which is roughly
the behaviour you will also see with the new 3.0 dsc format, except
that the .diff is a bit messier until that).

That is a lintian false positive, because lintian cannot distinguish
patches to be applied later and patches already applied.
