After taking remote control of this host using a VNC client and then
disconnecting, the host refuses further connections.
Looking at the host's screen reveals a KDE crash window that says krfb crashed
with sig6 SIGABRT.
I have tried several VNC clients but they are all causing the same behavior.
The krfb isn't run manually but as part of the KDE control center's
"Desktop Sharing" applet.
Closing the crash report window or running "pkill krfb" reopens the port.

Connecting and then not authenticating (cancelling the password prompt in
the client) also causes the same crash

Hello,

this issue is also replicable on Debian Lenny.

The crash happens about 5 seconds after disconnecting the session. It
happens on every disconnect.

It also happens by aborting the password prompt, without entering a
valid password. If the problem happens then it's no longer possible to
connect to the PC using VNC which means that this is also a Denial of
Service issue.

It would be good to get it fixed in Lenny.

I tried it on another PC with an identical setup but krfb does not crash. Only 
difference I can see is that this PC is using a single core CPU.

The attached patch solves the problem for me.

From XCreateImage / XDestroyImage manpage:

"Note that when the image is created using XCreateImage, XGetImage, or
XSubImage, the destroy procedure that the XDestroyImage function calls
frees both the image structure and the data pointed to by the image

i tested the patch and it works even for me: krfb doesn't crash anymore on 
client disconnect, thanks!

Moreover i had another problem (don't know if i am the only one given that i 
haven't see any related bug report...) :
I run krfb on a Debian Lenny amd64 dual core system; connecting from another 
pc with krdc client, krfb deny the connection saying the password is wrong 
(while i'm 100% sure the password is correct).
Well, after verified that using krfb version 4:3.5.7-4~bpo40+1 (from 
etch-backports: install just fine on Lenny) i'm able to connect, i go through 
the kfrb source code and found the only differences between 3.5.7 and 3.5.10 
was upstream revision 794662: 
http://websvn.kde.org/?view=rev&revision=794662 .
Then i reverted r794662 and the above problem on kfrb 3.5.10 has gone.

I am happy too to confirm this patch fixed the krfb crash-on-exit which
made it unusable in KDE 3.5.10.

I am aware KDE 3.5 is essentially abandoned upstream, but it will
be with us in Lenny for some time to come.  I'm tagging this +patch,
I hope maybe it proves possible for Debian to do another maintenance
release of KDE 3.5.

There are actually two patches in this bug, I haven't had a chance to try
the amd64 intsize fix yet (message 25
