Subject: live-initramfs: more doesn't work

Package: live-initramfs

Hi,

I've tried to do several things with a pager including
things like reading a manpage. The only pager that
seems to be available is more. Having less would be
handy.

But more doesn't seem to work properly on the live image.
It stops displaying after the first page, and then
just quits. I haven't seen this on a normal system
so I'm filing this bug against this package.

Something else that I noticed with looking at manpages
was that the dash (-) does not properly get displayed,
like there is something wrong with the locale or
something. This was on the console, I haven't tried it
in a terminal.

I was using the 500 kde i386 live image.

Kurt

clone 517444 -1
reassign -1 util-linux
retitle 517444 live: more doesn't work
retitle -1 more doesn't work in live systems
thanks

Hi,

I could reproduce the bug.

Since the live system is 100% debian, we can rule out
'missconfiguration' or 'user interfierence'. The only difference,
compared to a normal installation in a chroot, is that at runtime we use
aufs for the writable parts of the fs.

That makes me believe that more has some troubles with that, and thus
cloning the bug to more. Maybe the maintainer of util-linux has some
insights on that.

Regards,
Daniel

I'm closing the bug here, since there's nothing we can do about it from
the debian-live point of view, the bug is in util-linux, either in more
itself or in connection with aufs (and the clone is assignet to
util-linux already anyway).
