Package: apt

Hi!

The bash-completion on 'apt-get' for the 'autoremove' command doesn't work.
Typing 'auto<TAB>' only completes to 'autoclean'.

thanks

Uli

Reassigning to bash-completion.
/etc/bash_completion contains autoremove and it's handled to me.
From your apt version I guess you're using bash-completion version 20080705,
please correct me if I'm wrong.
That's right the version I'm using and in the case I can't reproduce the
bug. Are you able to find any "autoremove" occurrence in
/etc/bash_completion?

"autoremove" support was added in commit 9cbd3cea, made on Sat May 10 18:04:06
2008 +0200.

Ulrich, would you please report the value of $BASH_COMPLETION ? Also, would you
please do:

$ set -x
$ apt-get auto<TAB>

and report the *whole* output in the report?

Thank you.

Kindly,

Actually, I just checked and bash-completion is not installed here, but I do
have a file /etc/bash_completion that says "RELEASE: 20060301" in the header.

This now explains why it couldn't have worked, but I'm still puzzled that an
uninstalled package still has files hanging around, especially if those are
not so much configuration but libraries.

Anyway, thanks for helping me getting this working again!

Uli

Just because it was first part of bash itself, then in ~Feb 2008 it was split
into a separate project. Maybe you haven't an up-to-date bash?

Anyway, closing it. Please install the proper package :)

Kindly,
David
