Package: kvm
Version: 72+dfsg-3
Severity: normal
KVM's gdb stub appears to be broken at least when debugging a 64-bit
guest on a 64-bit system (I haven't tried any other combinations; I
can do so if it would be useful). I launch kvm using
kvm -hda /dev/lunatique/hackme-disk -boot c -net nic -net tap -vnc localhost:2 -serial stdio -s -S
And attach gdb. I tell gdb to continue, and break with ^C at some
later point during the guest's boot process, and gdb gives me:
(gdb) c
Continuing.
^CRemote 'g' packet reply is too long: 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

Message #10 received at 509479-done@bugs.debian.org (full text, mbox, reply):
Looks like this is user error; 'gdb' got confused and thought it was
debugging a 32-bit target. Executing
set architecture i386:x86-64:intel
make everything work perfectly
