Subject: update-notifier: panel icon constantly says update infomation is outdated when it's not
Date: Tue, 18 Nov 2008 22:43:12 -0800
Package: update-notifier
Version: 0.70.7.debian-5
Severity: important

*** Please type your report below this line ***

The panel icon for update-notifier constantly appears as a triangle with
an exclamation point in it and a popup windows that says: "The update
information is outdated. This may be caused by network problems. Please
update manually by clicking on this icon and then selecting 'Check.'"
There are no network problems and this will occur within minutes of
having run an upgrade through aptitude. The only way to get the icon to
go away is to run aptitude safe-upgrade again, even though there are no
new packages. This behavior essentially makes the notification icon in
the panel useless, for automatic notification of new packages. This
problem appeared a several weeks ago after some upgrades, although I
don't know which particular upgrades caused it.

Subject: update-notifier: Confirmed
Date: Sun, 31 Jan 2010 11:25:02 +0000
Package: update-notifier
Version: 0.70.7.debian-5
Followup-For: Bug #506186

Confirmed behaviour in up-to-date lenny installation. Interestingly,
this doesn't happen on my other lenny box. Perhaps something to do with
mirror choice? This one, with the problems, uses
http://ftp.uk.debian.org/debian as its mirror. I'll check later what the other
lenny box which doesn't exhibit this behaviour uses.

Hi!
Since GNOME-PackageKit has replaced update-notifier, these old bugs
are no longer valid. If you think they still are, please reopen them,
or, even better, file a new bug against gnome-packagekit.
Kind regards,
    Matthias Klumpp
