 Hello,

Another user interested in using bakefile has just pointed me to this bug
and I'd like to add that I'd be glad to maintain bakefile package in Debian.
I already make its packages available at http://apt.tt-solutions.com/debian/
and would welcome any advice about improving them.

Please let me know if I should submit an ITP for this package or if I
should proceed in some other way.

 Thanks,
VZ

I am interested in packaging bakefile, I have a version on metors[0]
that you can review, I need this package because is a dependency of
other ITP.

As soon as collab-maint admin aproves my request to join, i will put
the package in the git repo.

Hi Vadim, Wences, ...,

is there any progress on this one? I just noticed that there is still no
bakefile in Debian an had to install it manually while working with the
wxPython sources.

The package built fine for me, what is holding it back from Debian? I
could sponsor an upload if needed...

Greetings, Torsten

 Hello,

Not on my part, sorry. I totally gave up on trying to package anything for
Debian, my experience with trying to maintain wxWidgets Debian packages
and, to a lesser extent, bakefile ones, was so incredibly frustrating and
counterproductive that I completely abandoned any idea of ever doing it.

 Sorry,
VZ

You can check the git repo on alioth[0], and the package is in the
same place on mentors[1],
you can rewiew an sponsor it if you want, but right now there is a
problem: I found that library
is included in the source of bakefile, and this library is already
part of Debian. I will remove it
in the next release.

Cheers!

Hi Wences,
I came across this ITP and saw you've done some updates to the git
repo. Is this package ready for sponsoring.
I can sponsor if you're still looking for one.

~Scott

quick technical review of the git repo's package:

probably should B-D on python-dev instead of python2.6-dev

don't install the byteocode files (in debian/rules find an delete all
pyc and pyo) and instead just copy all the .py from src/ into
/usr/lib/bakefile and use dh_python2

Also, check the makefile.am, it looks like it sets the python version
in the header of the .py versions which might not be necessary in
debian since we byte compile on installation to whatever version of
python the user has on their system.

The following is built with a B-D on python-dev (python2.6-dev will
ftbfs) in a sid chroot (pbuilder)
