This has a family-likeness with OSX dock, but with more options.
Uses cairo to render nice graphics, and Glitz to use hardware acceleration.
It's fully configurable and can be a taskbar too.
You can easily plug applets into it.

I have already completed the package in hand.
It is to be working by Debian about lenny releasing, I have not done upload yet.

I know the existence of your package that hear from cairo-dock developer.
I am dividing the package in detail.
I am having one (ex. MAC OS X theme) that is not Free not distributed.

As for these, if the release of lenny finished, upload will be done in Debian.

Best regards,
 Nobuhiro

Thanks for the good news.

Yes, the copyright for the themes is not very clear. But as it's a
independent tarball, it should not be a blocker for the dock and the
plugins.

> As for these, if the release of lenny finished, upload will be done in Debian.
I hope Lenny will be faster than Etch :) But if it's too long, maybe it
is a good idea to upload it, so others distribution (like Ubuntu) can
synchronise it in their repositories.

Tell me if you want some help in the futur, I don't want to continu the
packaging for Ubuntu of cairo-dock if the Debian package exist.

Subject: Cairo-Dock without its plug-ins, it's not really Cairo-Dock !
Date: Mon, 28 Sep 2009 19:47:17 +0200
[Message part 1 (text/plain, inline)]
Hello Nobuhiro,

I'm part of the Cairo-Dock team. For us it's a great news to know that
Cairo-Dock is (finally :) ) integrated in Debian repositories !

But please, can you also integrate 'cairo-dock-plug-ins' ? This package is
already on Ubuntu repositories (Universe) :
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cairo-dock-plug-ins

This package cairo-dock_*.deb is simply an API with the minimum to use it
(just one basic view, no desklet mode, nothing for a better integration in
Gnome or XFCE and of course, no plug-in)
Can you have a look there ? :
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cairo-dock/2.0.8.1-0ubuntu1 .
'Cairo-Dock' is now split in 4 parts :
 - cairo-dock : a meta-package in order to install cairo-dock-core and
cairo-dock-plug-ins (because we receive too many bugs because some people
doesn't find other views, no plug-ins, etc.)
 - cairo-dock-core : binary files
 - cairo-dock-data : common files
 - cairo-dock-dev : all headers (in order to compile easily
'cairo-dock-plug-ins'

Moreover, we plan to release a new stable version (2.1.0) soon (tomorrow I
think). We have already made a special version for Karmic (2.0.9) -
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cairo-dock/+bug/435587 and
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cairo-dock-plug-ins/+bug/435590 .
This 2.0.9 version is a 'bugs fixed version' but not the new 2.1.0.

Thanks for your help and thanks again for your hard work.

Matthieu Baerts.

I already ITP cairo-dock-plug-ins.
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=493737

I am working package to this. But I take time a little.
A package is not divided in Ubuntu finely. This pakcage is too big to user.
I am going to distribute a package every plug in.
I will test these plugin. Therefore, I take time.

I think that a product will maintain a packaging team of cairo-dock by team.

Best regards,
  Nobuhiro

Ok thanks for your help.
I don't know exactly the 'rules' which exist in Debian repositories and why
the plug-ins package is too big but thanks to take time for this project !

I think that the plug-ins package should be made a package every function.
For example, it will be necessary for nVidia plugin to be made a package as cairo-dock-nvidia-plugin.
There is about approximately 30 plug in now.
I need confirm the movement of the package as package maintainer one by one.

Please wait packaging plugin.

  Nobuhiro
