Hi there,

xmoto in testing fails to start, segfaulting.
I did run it with strace, in order to give you a log, which you can get

Feel free to ask for further info.

Hi,

In the Debian Games Team, we were not able to reproduct the bug. Can you
please provide a full gdb backtrace.
http://wiki.debian.org/HowToGetABacktrace

Can you also try to rename your ~/.xmoto directory to something else.

Cheers,

Sure, but unfortunately the result is this:

(gdb) set pagination 0
(gdb) run
Starting program: /usr/games/xmoto

And here xmoto just freezes, instead of the expected crash.
So, I go to a console (CTRL+ALT+F1) and kill -9 the process:

Now, that fixed this for me. My ~/.xmoto was created before having
upgrading xmoto from etch to lenny, so it probably has the wrong format...
Do you want me to make a tarball with the old .xmoto tarball? Even if I
suppose that if you just install etch's version, run it and then upgrade to
lenny you'll be able to reproduce this... Well, anyway, feel free to ask me
to do any tests you want to get this issue fixed...

Thank you,

Hi,

Upstream want to know if you try a svn release of xmoto in the past? In
this case the DB migration is not supposed to work correctly.

No, I didn't - I only used Debian versions of xmoto. Feel free to ask anything

A lot of bugs have been fixed in the svn version. I won't loose time to find
which bug it was. We should make next xmoto version out soon to solve the
problem.

Followup-For: Bug #492414

Hi,

Unfortunately there's still a segfault in xmoto, apparently not fixed
upstream either. Attached is a patch; I had a backtrace of the crash but
lost it - I can reproduce it if necessary. The segfault occurred at the
start of some levels.

Regards,

Stephen

Hello,

I was able to reproduce the bug by editing the database manually to set
some fields as null, and the patch provided does fix it. I can do an
NMU, if the team hasn't got the time to get this fixed timely, so let me
know =).

See you,
