The audacious log file in ~/.config/audacious/log is growing out of
control with the following error:

tuple_get_int: assertion `tuple != NULL' failed

I don't know if this would normally qualify as a critical bug, but
as it causes the logfile to grow extremely quicly it can fill up the
home partition very quickly, leading to loss of data.

As I said in the bug report, it's probably not what would typically
qualify as critical. :) However, in my particular case it did cause me
to lose an entire POP3 mailbox in Evolution since the file couldn't be
written to disk, hence the critical marking. (thankfully the mailbox was
a mailing list archive so no major damage, but it could have been rather
bad)

Severity notwithstanding, I'd love to hear any idea on things I can
check to make the error go away. I'm getting tired of checking my
audacious log file every 30 minutes for fear of losing more data that's
waiting to be written to disk. (It's growing at about 1GB every 30
minutes, and I have about 1 GB of space available on that partition.)
I'm considering making log a symlink to /dev/null and seeing if that
works while I'm waiting for this to get resolved. I haven't found a way
to tell Audacious to just not do any logging in the meantime. Any
suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

Well, if you could do the following for me it will make things easier:

(1) install audacious-dbg, audacious-plugins-dbg, libglib2.0-0-dbg
(2) gdb audacious
(3) inside gdb, "br g_return_if_fail_warning"
(4) inside gdb, "run --no-log"
(5) continue each time this call is made until you find the message that
is giving you the trouble

I'd seen this, but then couldn't replicate it when debugging.
That's because I'd cleaned up my playlist so it didn't trigger
#491097, and loading another playlist triggered it.

Line numbers from 1.5.1-2, and the bug is calling
  tuple_get_int(NULL, ..., ...).

The breakage was getting in my way enough to patch over it.
This isn't a proper fix, but it has more commentry it in, and it
stops Audacious chewing disk space, at least for me.

Having looked again at line 211, it seems OK.  This patches the
other two bits (and I've updated my copy of the source to
1.5.1-3).

These three bugs are all caused by the same buggy if statement:

Skotlex's patch (attached at the Atheme report) fixes all three.

My patch (attached to Debian #491655) fixes just one.

The two patches conflict.  Over in hg.atheme.org, the merge in
changeset 4745 transposed a "title" and a "tuple"; this typo
reintroduces all three bugs.

I suggest reverting, dropping my patch and just using Skotlet's.


For bug 491097, it still prints out
  Unable to read from file:////home/noct/temp/temp.ogg, giving up.
several hundred times, but it stops after a couple of seconds
rather than being locked in an infinite loop.
