I agree, is the maintainer still interested in this package? collab-maint might
be an option.

I've put an updated package here, should it be of any use:

http://people.debian.org/~filippo/packages/youtube-dl_2009.05.30-1~0fg1.dsc

please take into account the collab-maint option, I'd be interested

Subject: RFC and RFS: youtube-dl (updated package)
Date: Sat, 10 Oct 2009 10:57:51 -0300
Dear people,

Seeing as youtube-dl, a downloader of videos from youtube, has been
bitrotting and was removed from testing (which means that it won't be
part of the new release, all things equal), I went ahead and gave the
package a facelift.

I would be happy if you could take a look at the package that I uploaded
to mentors more than one month back:

http://mentors.debian.net/cgi-bin/sponsor-pkglist?action=details;package=youtube-dl

I think that it is mostly sane, but I would love too have it reviewed
and, perhaps, sponsored.

The last update of youtube-dl was approximately 1 year and a half ago,
according to http://qa.debian.org/developer.php?login=edmonds@debian.org
(of course, I'm CC'ing Robert, the maintainer here, but
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=491616 is not
encouraging).

(The version that I packaged has two changes of mine that were
incorporated in upstream's source :-) )

Thanks, Rogério Brito.

Updated to the newest and greatest (and adjusted the watchfile to
automate things):

dget http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/y/youtube-dl/youtube-dl_2009.09.13-1.dsc

Thanks, Rogério Brito.

how do you use the watchfile here? uscan --verbose doesn't seem to work at least
for me.

anyhow, please have a look at the package I linked, it contains a
get-orig-source script which is supposed to download the latest version and do a
tarball out of it

Sorry. I changed the watchfile but forgot to include the changes in the
final package. The small fix was just to include a "\.tar" in the name
of the package (upstream changed that).

The fixed package is again at the address above.

A get-orig-source target is nice to have, indeed, but I'd prefer to use
plain, pristine upstream tarballs for trackability reasons.

Thanks, Rogério Brito.
