Package: mozilla-mplayer
Version: 3.55-1
User: debian-edu@lists.debian.org
Usertag: debian-edu

When visiting <URL: http://tv2.no/video/?progid=249168 > and pressing
the play button (the filled arrow on the large image), the video part
of the web page become grey, but no video is played.

The page is one of the videoes published by a major TV company in
Norway, so it is quite important to have it working for us here in
Norway.

This page work with the kaffeine-mozilla plugin (version
0.4.3.1.dfsg-0.1), and it would be great if it would work with the
mplayer plugin as well.

Happy hacking,

[Message part 1 (text/plain, inline)]
I tested to add debug=1 in ~/.mplayer/mplayerplug-in.conf, and found
the URL passed to the plugin. This is the output from the plugin.

In this case, it was
<URL:http://webtv.tv2.no/webtv/metafile.asx?p=260363&bw=100>. Next, I
tried to pass this link to gmplayer, and it fail. It seem to me that
the ASX XML file provided behind this link is not supported by
mplayer. The ASX file is attached. Passing the URL to vlc work.
Passing it to xine and kaffeine only play the sound.

Then this is a bug in mplayer, not mplayerplug-in.

Perhaps. If you believe so, please reassign. One strange thing that
make me suspect it is a bug in mplayerplug-in, is that the log do not
show any debug message indicating that mplayer was started. The
player thread isn't started, and I am unable to figure out why.
Perhaps it is a bug both in mplayer and mplayerplug-in?

Happy hacking,

You filled the bug http://bugs.debian.org/491402 in Debian BTS
against the package mplayerplug-in. I'm closing it at *unstable*, but it will
remain open for older distributions.

For more information about this package's removal, read
http://bugs.debian.org/557591. That bug might give the reasons why
this package was removed and suggestions of possible replacements.

Don't hesitate to reply to this mail if you have any question.

Thank you for your contribution to Debian.
