Both audacious, and xine fail to start after a shared objects file
couldn't be found. The name of the file is libcares.so.2 which even
apt does not know. Audacious also misses amidi-plug.so - although all
available plugins have been installed.

Message #10 received at 490894@bugs.debian.org (full text, mbox, reply):
I get the same warning about midi not loading, but audacious
continues to load. Probably two separate bugs.
libcares.so.2 is in package libc-ares2.
audacious-plugins-extra depends on libcurl3-gnutls.
The libcurl* packages have been built with libc-ares support
recently, and then dropped it again due to bugs.
Today it was dropped for #490624 #490539 and #490833.
With the non-libcares version of libcurl3-gnutls (7.18.2-7), I can
start audacious without libc-ares2. Haven't tried with
yesterday's version of libcurl3-gnutls.

but I think this is a different bug, isn't it?
The original problem with the segfault seems to be resolved, many
thanks :)
Have fun
Thomas.
