Whoo, I logged in as 'teiz'.. Imagine my surprise when I find this in my
auth.log:

Oct 19 22:30:22 devnull PAM_unix[18286]: check pass; user unknown
Oct 19 22:30:22 devnull PAM_unix[18286]: authentication failure;
	LOGIN(uid=0) -> foobar for login service
Oct 19 22:30:25 devnull login[18286]: FAILED LOGIN 1 FROM FOR foobar,
	Authentication service cannot retrieve authentication info.
Oct 19 22:30:27 devnull PAM_unix[18286]: (login) session opened for user
	teiz by LOGIN(uid=0)
Oct 19 22:30:27 devnull login[18286]: `foobar' logged in on `tty7'

PAM knows who we are talking about.. login for some reason does not.

extra info:

devnull:~# ls -l /lib/libc.so.6
lrwxrwxrwx   1 root     root           13 Oct  2 14:00 /lib/libc.so.6 ->
libc-2.1.2.so
devnull:~# uname -a
Linux devnull 2.2.12 #1 Sun Sep 26 00:28:23 CEST 1999 i686 unknown

updated to the latest potato shapshot one or two hours before I found the
bug.

Thijs Janssen

Yeah, looks like login fails to retrieve the updated PAM_USER after
authentication succeeds. I'll have it fixed soon.
