Hello,

I think a PAM config file /etc/pam.d/slim for SLiM should be inclued in the Debian
package; see below for an example.

While this does not affect the main SLiM functionality, if the
pam.d/slim file is not provided PAM will use the fallback "others"
file, which is definitely not the desired behaviour for a login
program.

Thanks in advance!

Regards,
Riccardo

Will be installed by the upcoming package.

Sorry for the long delay though, I had no much clue about pam and many
other things.

You filled the bug http://bugs.debian.org/476248 in Debian BTS
against the package slim. I'm closing it as fixed in *unstable*,
but it will remain open for older distributions.

For more information about this package's removal, read
http://bugs.debian.org/538921. That bug might give the reasons why
this package was removed and suggestions of possible replacements.

Don't hesitate to reply to this mail if you have any question.

Thank you for your contribution to Debian.

--- Please enter the report below this line. ---

Hello,

i had to mess with pam stuff to have jackd running in realtime, i spent
an afternoon trying to figure out why it did not work. Well, it was
because of missing pam file for slim.

I've fixed the issue for me borrowing the one from kdm, but the only
difference with the one posted by Riccardo is the absence of this line

auth optional pam_group.so

and the comments.

So please include Riccardo's file so we can close this.

thanks,
riccardo

it's getting more important to have an alternative that works well.
