Hi,

Actually, I've been interested in packaging biniax2 for a while. I've
been on contact with the author (Cc'ed) for license stuff (one month ago
or so, there was no visible license at all, and no .tar.gz for the
source). With the last version, everything is under a modified zlib
license and a .tar.gz is provided upstream with source+data. I was just
making the ITP when I realized there was already one (I know, I should
have done the ITP much earlier... I was waiting to get a Debian-friendly
upstream archive before doing so).

What's your status on the package?

Cheers,

Cool! :)

Where is the tarball with both the source and the data? I had to repackage it
because all I could find was the tarball with the code, and had to get the
data from the compiled release. It would be really much better if a proper
tarball was provided by upstream :)

It's almost finished [1], but as we will be co-maintaining it inside the
Debian Games Team [2], if you want to join us and help co-maintaining it
you're totally welcome :)

It is on the download page:

  http://www.biniax.com/download2.html

(in the Source code paragraph). Note also that everything is under a
single (dfsg-free, I think) license.

Cool. I'll have a look. I was planning to contact that team once
everything was ok (at least, license-wise), anyway. FTR, I already
(informally) mentioned that I was negociating with upstream author on
IRC #debian-games.

It says: "Download the source code of Biniax-2 (.zip archive 168KB). To have
fully functional game, you need to add the "\data" folder from the binary
distributions."

Yes, AFAIK the license is all DFSG-free. I've already checked it :)

It says right after:

"Source code complete with all the game data can be downloaded HERE as
.tar.gz archive 2.9MB."

Here is the direct link:

Jordan fixed it only recently :-) I was just concerned about the
CC-BY[1] part, but maybe version 3.0 is fine now.

Cool! I'll fix it then to use this tarball :)

Only CC-by 3.0 and CC-by-sa 3.0 are DFSG free :)
