message :

php5-xmlrpc: Depends: php5-common (= 5.2.0-8+etch10) but 5.2.0-10 is to be

i'm not sure where you're getting 5.2.0-10 from, if you're using etch you
should be seeing only 5.2.0-8+etch10 or perhaps 5.2.0-8+etch11~p1 (which was
recently migrated to etch from etch-proposed-updates. however, i suspect
that:

may have something to do with it. please provide the following information:
- contents of /etc/apt/sources.list
- output of apt-cache policy php5-xmlrpc

This server was initially installed as testing and "upgraded" to stable when
etch was released.

I removed the php5-common package and reinstalled it with the correct
version for etch.
I guess there was a problem when this server was changed to stable from
testing when etch was released.
