Version: 0.4.1-4
Severity: important

        Hi!

w3m happily ignores its own ~/.w3m/config option mailer but always
spawns its internal W3M Mailer. This is stupid. If it offers this
option it should at least honor it and use that mailer given there!

Have a nice day,

Unreproducible. I configured mailer as follows,
% grep mailer ~/.w3m/config
mailer mail %s

Then, following mailto: URL will invoke mail command instead of
intenral mailer.

Ah, now I see the real problem:
subscribe spawns the
internal Mailer. So as soon as the mailto: link has options handed it
spawns the internal W3M Mailer.

There _must_ be a way to deactivate this, otherwise it is just
annoying.

It can't be supported, because there are no standard way to
pass mail body to external mailer.

*sigh* wontfix always looks like "I'm pouting now, you stubborn user".

mail body support in mailto: link is a hack anyway, so I would rather
like to have it simply drop that non-standard extension than being
forced to use the W3M Mailer.... Is there *any* way to disable the W3M
Mailer _completely_?

And still I disagree that this is wishlist. It is IMNSHO no wishlist
that it should use what it is configured to use, rather than overrule
its own configuration... At least it is not important like I thought in
the first place when I thought it does this all the time regardless of
everything else.

Have fun,

body or something like this is not hack. It's specified as proposed
standard in RFC2364.

It's not non-standard extension, so the answer is yes for now.

Just out of the curisity, what does "PPP Over AAL5" have to do with
this? Can you kindly name me the correct rfc number, please?

The answer is yes that there is a way to disable the W3M Mailer
completely? Where, how?

Hi,

Here is a patch which makes it possible to disable the internal mailer
completely calling the external mailer either just with the email address
(ignoring the options in the mailto: URL) or with the full mailto: URL.
