Subject: amule as stopped accepting some ed2k links

Package: amule
Version: 2.1.3-5
Severity: normal

Within the past few days, amule has stopped accepting ed2k links from
this page: http://www.verycd.com/topics/74334/

Which is to say, I right click on one of the ed2k links in Firefox or
Mozilla, select "Copy Link Location", then past the link in amule's
"ED2K Link Handler" field and hit the commit button. These links have
worked consistently for me for weeks, and suddenly they don't, with no
indication of error. Nothing happens now when I hit the commit button.

Note that there is Chinese in the file name portion of the link, and
this has always *not* displayed correctly when pasted into amule, but
this has never been a problem in the past.

Further investigation would indicate that I was probably pasting a link
for a file that was already being downloaded. In this case, amule
behaves as I have described, and there is no way to know what the
problem might be unless one knows where to find the log, which is
tucked away in a rather distant place on the Network tab at the bottom
of the window.

There just isn't enough feedback here. There should be a pop-up or
something fairly obvious telling the user what the problem is.

So, you can use this bug report as a wish-list item for more error
feedback, or close it, as you wish.

Clayton

With recent enough versions of aMule (at least 2.2.5) in case you're
pasting a link for a file already in download you receive this
message:

<date> You are already trying to download the file <filename>

Hence I'm closing this report (even if without an explicit version,
since I'm unsure when it was fixed).
