Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist

* Package name    : giback
  Version         : to be determined
  Upstream Author : Mauricio Fernandez <mfp@acm.org>
* URL             : http://eigenclass.org/hiki/gibak-backup-system-introduction
* License         : LGPL
  Programming Lang: OCaml, shell
  Description : git based home directory backup

The gibak package provides a comfortable interface for backing up your
home directory using git. Since core git does not store much metadata
about files, giback ometastore, which saves and restores metadata
information, optionally following git semantics with respect to
.gitignore and submodules.

Comments:

- This fills a niche for me because ometastore works on my reiserfs based
server, while currently metastore does not (#470184)

- There seems not yet to be a release tarball.

- The main part of the package is ometastore, which is written in OCaml.

Hi,

This is an automatic email to change the status of gibak back from ITP
(Intent to Package) to RFP (Request for Package), because this bug hasn't seen
any activity during the last 18 months.

If you are still interested in adopting gibak, please send a mail to
<control@bugs.debian.org> with:

 retitle 470206 ITP: gibak -- A better backup system based on Git
 owner 470206 !
 thanks

However, it is not recommended to keep ITP for a long time without acting on
the package, as it might cause other prospective maintainers to refrain from
packaging that software. It is also a good idea to document your progress on
this ITP from time to time, by mailing <470206@bugs.debian.org>.

Thank you for your interest in Debian,
