Package: enigmail
Version: 2:0.95.0+1-3.1
Severity: normal
Hello,
after updating enigmail to 2:0.95.0+1-3.1, icedove claims that enigmail 0.94.2
is installed. Which is incompatible with icedove 2.0.0.9
For me it looks like one step is missin g in the update from enigmail 2:0.94.2-2
so enigmail is unusable with icedove (on my computer).
Greetings
Juergen

what is the state of this bugreport? Enigmail seems to be completely
broken.

have you merged the correct bugs? (It looks like the digit '8' became '3')

It is not completely broken, only the update script :-(
For my machine I have solved the problem by purge and reinstall of enigmail.

Yes that was a typo.

The packaging is broken - not the upstream software of course.

Torsten

when replacing mozilla-enigmail with testing's enigmail you should
include in the preinstall script a test for obsolete enigmail packages
and purge them rather than just remove or replace them.
I found that I had to first dpkg --purge mozilla-enigmail prior to
installing enigmail which actually removes the old enigmail from icedove
before installing the new version.

(To the enigmail package maintainers)
Is it possible for the ‘enigmail’ packaging to be modified to do this
automatically when a user installs and/or upgrades to it? Or is some
other fix required to resolve this bug?
